The Guides Casebook, Second Edition presents over fifty new and
adapted case examples that demonstrate the appropriate use of
the new fifth edition of the Guides to the Evaluation of
Permanent Impairment. The distinguishing feature of the second
edition is that it draws on the knowledge-base of the fourth
edition of the Guides, by demonstrating through example
differences with the Guides Fifth Edition.
Thirty new cases offer entirely new content unique to the Guides
Fifth and provides the basis to understand new issues that
examiners encounter. The clinician can evaluate these cases and
compare their assessment to the expert, who discusses how they
evaluated each case. Musckuloskeletal disorders are most common,
and therefore, the majority of the cases deal with upper/lower
extremity and spinal problems.
